 | Bardsey Bird and Field Observatory We are filling fast for both spring and autumn 2008 - BOOK NOW! We have some weeks still available, so early booking advisable to stay at the comfortable Observatory on Bardsey. Good numbers of migrants present during autumn and always the chance of a rarity. Recent goodies include American Robin, Booted, Subalpine, Lanceolated, Greenish Warblers, Little Bunting, Snowy Owl, Great Snipe, Red-throated, Olive-backed and Blyth's Pipits, Little Shearwater, Wilson's Petrel and Black-browed Albatross. Autumn 2006 provided two Radde's Warblers, Bonelli's Warbler, Short-toed Lark, Hundreds of Balearic Shearwaters and much more! With an adult male RED FLANKED BLUETAIL last October who could ask for more? What's more it is the only place in the UK where you can see FLOCKS of Grasshopper Warblers (at new moon periods during lighthouse attractions). Also experience the sight and sound of a large Manx Shearwater colony where 32,000+ birds visit the island on dark moonless nights during the summer months.  | Chumming for Pelagics in the Hebrides The M.V. Kerry will be running full-day pelagic bird cruises in late April, May, June, late August and September. The North Minch is famous as a pelagic highway. The strong currents are perfect for dispersing the attractants used far and wide across the North Minch. Petrels, skuas, shearwaters, rare gulls and maybe something really special. Albatross has been reported in this area before. Cruises for up to 11 people. At least one day a week will be reserved for individuals etc. who are touring in the area. Accommodation can be arranged. Perfect for those photographic opportunities. This area is also famous for its Whale and Dolphin populations as well. |
